La Condesa is a beautiful restaurant that offers an atmosphere that’s as gorgeous and modern as is its cuisine. Serving Mexican food that’s a fusion of new flavors and culinary ideas, La Condesa is a far cry from your run of the mill Tex-Mex.

Our Favorite Eats

The first thing that you should order on the menu is the guacamole tasting appetizer. Since this restaurant makes traditional guacamole, chipotle almond guac, watermelon and cheese guac, and jumbo lump crab with apple guac, the tasting platter is a great way to ensure you get to try all of them—and they are all worth the $18 that the platter costs. Another favorite at this restaurant is the tostadas de atun, which feature yellow fin tuna, pickled cucumber, crispy shallots, chipotle mayo, and habanero mustard. If you enjoy fish, the pan-roasted grouper with glazed potatoes, black garlic puree, chayote slaw, and vinaigrette is absolutely amazing.

Taquito Tasting

The taquitos are some of the most famous choices on the menu. When you order a taquito plate, understand that sides cost extra, and that the taquitos feature two small tacos only. However, they are super delicious, and no one who orders them complains about them. Favorites are the fish taquitos, the al pastor taquitos, and the seared venison taquitos with pickled cucumber, chipotle harissa, pollen yogurt, cilantro, and a bacon fat tortilla. While you’ll have to pay extra for them, we highly recommend getting a side of the nopalitos (cured cactus), ejotes (grilled Texas green beans), or the coles de bruselas (Brussels sprouts).

Best Brunch in Austin

La Condesa should definitely be recognized as having one of the best brunches in Austin, as this little restaurant has really wowed us with some creative and delicious dishes. The Huevos Condesa are a must-try with eggs, chicken, potatoes, bacon, and more, and the Cubanita is mouthwatering with pork shoulder, smoked ham, arugula, Swiss cheese, habanero mustard, pickled jalapenos, and toasted garlic. The traditional huevos rancheros are a great choice, too.

There’s a Taco Truck!

In addition to the restaurant, La Condesa also owns a taco truck, which you can rent out for an event or private party if you’re so inclined. The truck offers made to order tacos, as well as some of the restaurant’s favorite dishes.

The Place for Cocktails and Tequila

A Mexican restaurant isn’t complete without a full range of yummy cocktails and tequila options. The pisco sour is one of the best in Austin, as is the margarita here. We also recommend the La Manzana cocktail, the Spicy Paloma, and the special Margarita a la Condesa.

Amazing View

Finally, the atmosphere here is really breathtaking, and defies what a traditional restaurant looks like. With modern lighting fixtures, walls featuring bright blues and other colors, wooden tables and bar area, and big windows that offer a view of the gorgeous patio, this is the perfect restaurant for a nice business lunch or a romantic date.
