Rock Climbing Indoors on Austin North Side
Main Event has a 9,000 square foot rock climbing area, and is one of the most fun places in all of Austin to come climb, whether you’re a beginner or an expert searching for a challenging workout. All of the walls are 28 feet tall, and all of the walls range in difficulty. Those wall routes that are designed for more experienced climbers have some interesting challenges, including two crack climb routes and some routes that require more dynamic movements.
A Place to “Rock” Out
If you need a place to host your kid’s party (or you’re own if you enjoy climbing and think your friends or family will, too), there is a birthday party wall at Main Event Climbing. The wall, like other walls in the climbing gym, has a section designed for kids’ parties that has big tennis shoe holds for beginners. Across the way, there are several walls designed for more experienced climbers.
Make Friends, Hang Out
Not only is this a good place for parties, but Main Event Rock Climbing is also a fun place to make new friends or hang out with old ones. In fact, there is a climbing Meet Up group that meets here every Monday and Wednesday. If you’re looking for new friends, or simply are in search of a climbing partner, the Meet Up group is the perfect place to find a climbing mate.
A Restaurant, too?
Main Event Rock Climbing knows that climbing is one of the most exhausting sports out there. As such, there’s a bar in the climbing gym that provides refreshments in the form of food and drink to those who need a bit of a pick-me-up.
Restrictions & Who Can Climb
For the most part, anyone who’s in good health is welcome to climb. Of course, if you’re pregnant or have any other health conditions that may impair your ability to climb safely, you should probably sit this one out. If you’re under the age of 18, you’ll need a waiver signed by a parent or guardian before going. The form is available for download and print via the Main Event website.
What a Day of Climbing Costs
Climbing isn’t the cheapest sport in the world, but Main Event Rock Climbing has created a climbing gym that’s actually fairly affordable in comparison to other gyms. The prices are below:
- 1/2 Hour = $8.00
- 1 Hour = $10.00
- 2 Hours = $12.00
On Mondays, you can get a special deal, and for $10 you get a wristband that allows you to climb as long as you want. Additionally, if you’re interested in climbing more frequently, they have monthly memberships available that allow you to climb as often as you want for $60.
If you’re looking for a fun activity, or an interesting way to mix up your typical Friday night or Saturday afternoon, we highly recommend giving this climbing gym a try!
