Austin’s favorite neighborhood comedy theater has earned a following because the variety of performances there prove that laughter never gets old and is best experienced in groups. The New Movement showcases are not from big name stand-up comedians, but rather from a smorgasbord of equally talented and well-connected improv, sketch, and stand-up acts. People flock to The New Movement throughout the week for the low-key feel, quirky events like The Megaphone Show – where the improv is built around stories from local people of interest spilling their beans – and the free Tuesday night pre-show improv class.
You never really know what you’re going to find at the New Movement so check their calendar or just show up. You probably won’t even have to find an ATM machine before attending a show there, because the events and showcases are usually $10 and under, or even free. The New Movement is a BYOB theater so if you’re interested in having drinks, you need to bring your own!
Get your laughter on just about any night of the week at The New Movement Theater in Austin.
