If you like the performing arts and comedy, then A.D. Players in Houston is a wonderful place for date night or a night out with friends. Founded in 1967, the acting company today has become a popular Houston favorite, and is loaded with talent. For some witty and hilarious shows, as well as some more dramatic ones, here’s what you should know about A.D. Players:

What to Expect from A.D. Players

The 2013-2014 season of A.D. players is nearly at a close, but the 2015 season is expected to delight nearly as much as this year’s did. With shows that trigger emotions in all forms–ranging from humor to sadness–this acting company has perfected the art of theatre. Some shows they’ve done in the past include Arsenic and Old Lace, a dark comedy that’s hilarious; The Diary of Anne Frank, the story of the famous girl who hides from the Nazi’s; and Godspell, one of the most famous off-broadway musical successes of all time. With shows that cater to all type of artistic preferences, there’s something for everyone here.

The Cost of Tickets

Tickets are pretty reasonable priced at A.D. Players, and actually aren’t that much more than it would cost to see a movie. Opt for season ticket to see all of the shows throughout the year–four shows total–for only $125 per person. This offer is $25 off the regular ticket price, and gives you 15 percent off tickets for any guests. You can also by single tickets if you’re not a big theatre go-er, which range anywhere from $20 to $50 depending upon where you sit, if a special is going on, and what day of the week you go.

The Children’s Theatre

The Children’s Theatre here is also a favorite part of A.D. Players, and is perfect if you have children yourself and want to take them to see something unique and interesting. With plays that often teach a moral lesson–such as the Bully Show (challenges kids to think about bullies and their effects), The Pass-It-On Christmas (highlights the importance of giving and good acts), The Magician’s Nephew (which is great for teaching the difference between good and evil by highlighting the battle of two children against an evil queen), and The Hero Squad vs. the Super-Villian’s Apprentice (teaches the importance of friendship).

Small and Intimate Setting

Another great thing about this theatre is the fact that’s its small. While this may be a negative characteristic to some, the tininess of it provides a much more up-close experience of the show, and a much more memorable one. Since it is tiny, though, buying tickets in advance is definitely recommended. Sunday matinees are a great time to go, and ticket prices are cheaper then, too. If you like theatre, want a good laugh, and are looking for a fun way to mix up the standard date night, this theatre goes highly recommended.
