Goode Food, Great Story

Opened in 1977 as a small barbeque place, the Goode Company didn’t originally have any intentions of making it big, nor did they think that seafood would become something they were famous for. A family owned business that has increased to seven restaurants and lord knows how many full bellies, the Goode Company is still creating the best brisket in the world, along with the expansion of their seafood chain–Goode Company Seafood (no barbeque found here)–which offers amazing seafood gumbo, oysters, and more.

Up in Smoke

One thing that makes this restaurant unique is the fact that many of its cooked seafood dishes are slow roasted over mesquite wood, giving it a distinct and memorable flavor. In fact, none of Goode Company’s restaurants are even equipped with gas or electric grills. As far as they’re concerned, seafood grilling has gotta be done the real way or not at all.

Making it Right

If you’re not convinced that it’s the grilling that makes the food at this restaurant amazing, perhaps it’s the style with which it’s prepared. All of the dishes are hand-made with love, dedication to taste, and with the perfect amount of time. The Goode Company knows that you can’t rush great food, and they don’t even try to. Settle in and enjoy your friends and family for a while and make yourself comfortable, because your meal might take longer than you’d expect to make it to your table. The taste is more than worth it, though.

In addition to how the dishes are made, it’s also important to note that everything’s made with the best ingredients. Fresh veggies, gulf-caught seafood, and more make every dish delectable.

Choosing the Best

While nearly everything on Goode Company Seafood’s menu is delicious, the campechana de mariscos appetizer, the oysters, the Texas shrimp and bacon, and the shrimp po boy’ll blow you away. Additionally, don’t miss out on trying a slice of the pecan pie at the end of your meal, rumored to be the best pecan pie in all the world.

Gluten-Free Options

If you have celiac disease, are eating paleo, or simply trying to cut down on your gluten and carbs, Goode Company is the place to go. While quite a few restaurants have gluten free selections on their menus, rarely do you find a restaurant that has an entire Gluten-free menu with fifteen different seafood options as well as a chicken or rib eye choice, too.

Slightly Spendy

While this certainly isn’t the most expensive seafood restaurant around, it’s not a Red Lobster, either. Plan on spending between $12 and $20 for an appetizer, $15 to $30 for your entrée, and $8 to $12 for a glass of wine. Beer is $5. They also have a full bar for those who prefer a mixed drink or liquor instead.

Closed on Monday’s but open every other day of the week, check out Goode Company Seafood for either lunch or dinner and experience yummy dishes, a casual setting, and great service.
