For a rowdy night of music, rodeo life, or a horse and livestock show, no place says “This is Texas,” like the Houston Livestock Show & Radio. If you want to connect with your true inner American, this is one venue/show/event that’s you’ve gotta check out. (Plus, the Housotn Livestock Show & Radio is a charity organization that benefits youth, education, and agricultural practices – isn’t that reason enough to check it out??).

Events Hosted by Houston Livestock Show & Radio

The Houston Livestock Show & Radio hosts just about every type of event you could think of, including golf tournaments, fundraisers, country bbq cook-offs (complete with a tractor pull), a Cowboys and Angels fall dance, community festivals, a shrimp boil, a turkey shoot, a fashion show and dance, a Texana chili spill, bull riding, and more. If you want to live life on the wild side – or simply do something great for the community by helping groups to raise money or awareness about issues – attending one of these events is a great way to do something good and something fun. The food cook-offs are especially popular, and people absolutely love attending these for the smokey flavors, fun atmosphere, and filling options.

Rodeo, Livestock Show, and Horse Show

Of course, in addition to all the great events throughout the year, one shouldn’t forget about the biggest draw of Houston Livestock Show & Radio – the animals! Whether you’re a rodeo fanatic, an agricultural nut, or a horse-lover, there are competitions, challenges, and events throughout the year featuring all of the above. You’re guaranteed to have a fun time – as will your entire group of friends and family – at one of these shows!

The Place for Concerts

The Houston Livestock Show & Radio has hosted some big names over the years, and is a favorite place for music lovers to gather to listen to their favorite artists and bands. The 2015 schedule has some favorites planned, so make sure to check it out if you love concerts.

Kids Love it Here

There are some really great kid activities throughout the year that are both educational and entertaining for the little ones. If you’re a parent, consider bring your kids in for the carnival or  Kids’ Country area (which features a petting zoo, tractor pull, kids’ carnival, pig races, pony rides, and more). Or, if you’re an educator or active parent, think about signing your students’ school up for a field trip / school tour. There are plenty of activities or attractions, and this is a great way for kids to learn more about the importance of agriculture and the role of animals.
