Persian food is very unique to Iran, and has dishes that can’t be found in any other type of cooking. For Persian cooking that is both truly authentic and delicious, Kasra Persian Grill is some of the best Persian food in Houston.

What to Expect

The first thing a person should know about Persian food is that in Iranian culture, food is often the center of a good conversation, event, or family get together. As such, the preparation of food isn’t taken lightly. At Kasra Persian Grill, this tradition of excellence for every dish prepared continues, and you’ll be delighted by just how good nearly everything on the menu is.

The second thing you should know is that Persian dishes combine an array of flavors that you won’t find anywhere else. If you have a sensitive palate, going with an experienced Persian cuisine-loving friend to help guide you through the menu is recommended.

Do the Dip

Persian cooking is known for its many dips, and the dips at Kasra Persian grill are definitely something you should try. There’s the traditional hummus, Borani Bademjan (which is cold eggplant dip), Kaske Bademjan (warm eggplant dip), two different types of yogurt dips, and a roasted garlic and jalepeno dip. If you don’t want a dip, try one of the other appetizers, like the special herb plate.

Main Plates

There are quite a few different main plate options that you can try at Kasra Persian Grill, but if you’re unsure where to start, you may want to try one of the house specialties. There are a couple of different stew options that are served over basmati white rice, and a couple lamb shank choices, too. If you’re a vegetarian, there’s a specialty vegetarian plate that even meat eaters would willingly gobble up.

Straying away from the house specialties, one will find a plethora of beef, chicken, and seafood options. Or, combine your favorite by opting for one of the combo plates instead.

Keep Your Pocket Book Cush

While most lamb or seafood options in Houston will start at $15 and can cost more than $50 per entrée, the dishes here are so fabulously priced that we just can’t help not mentioning it. A dinner combination plate with beef, chicken, rice, and vegetables is only $13.49, and the lunch version is even cheaper. Salmon and shrimp kabobs are both under $15 for lunch. Or, want to feed a family of six without spending a fortune? The family dinner platter is under $80.

There’s a reason that the Houston Press voted Kasra as the best Persian in Houston in 2007. To find out for yourself if the review is accurate, stop in for lunch or dinner Monday through Sunday. If you have a group of six or more, call and make a reservation first.
