Food from Latin America is some of the most satisfying food in the world. It’s warm, it’s hearty, it’s filling, and when prepared correctly, it makes one feel as though they’re adventuring through a whole new country or culture. Seco’s Latin Cuisine–often referred to as a restaurant that offers an array of entrées that encompass European, Latin, and Mexican traditional dishes—is one restaurant that not only transports you to another world, but also will stir within you a sense of nostalgia for the days when life was much simpler.

A Quaint Dining Locale

The first thing that people notice about Seco’s is the fact that the restaurant doesn’t look like a restaurant at all; rather, this cute dining establishment is set within a brick cottage that looks as though it belongs in a forest in a magical kingdom, not Nottingham Street in Houston. A very low-key dining experience that is more reminiscent of dining within a Latin American grandmother’s home than a restaurant, Seco’s provides diners with a truly authentic feeling. The only negative to this adorable setup is that when it gets busy, it gets a bit crowded and loud—one downside of a tiny space.

Small Space, Average Prices

While the home this restaurant’s set in may be small, the prices are just about average at Seco’s. Appetizers range from $2.50 to $10.99, and entrees start around $9 and go up to $18 depending upon the dish. The great thing about Seco’s is that there are some inexpensive items on the menu (chicken tamale appetizer for $3, beef enchiladas for $9.99), so if you’re on a budget, there’s bound to be a way that you can fill yourself for a reasonable price.

Fabulous Food

As soon as you’re seated at Seco’s, you’ll be brought chips and salsa, just as you would at many other Latin/Mexican establishments. However, we mention this fact not because you’re brought chips and salsa, but because the salsa is so superbly wondrous, with its smoky and peppery flavors, that you won’t be able to get enough of it. Don’t overindulge, though—the rest of the food at Seco’s is pretty delectable too, and whether you opt for the tacos, the fajitas, a salad, a sandwich, pasta, empanadas, or a combination plate, you’re bound to be satisfied by your meal.

Parking Info

A minor complaint from patrons is about the parking here, so here’s what you need to know before you go: there is a back lot that’s behind the restaurant. However, it is hard to get in and out of, especially if your vehicle is large, and the parking spots available are usually pretty limited within the lot. Rather than causing yourself grief over it, just park in front of the restaurant or down the street and walk a bit.
