With the traditional Mexican dishes that Americans have come to know and love, such as burritos, enchiladas, and quesadillas, Soto’s Cantina in the Willowbrook area also offers some unique dishes for Houstonians who wander through its doors. Using fresh ingredients and creating dishes that have a distinct and memorable flavor, Soto’s Cantina is unlike other Mexican restaurants in Houston.

Perfectly Priced

While to some people, perfectly priced might mean free, diners at Soto’s Cantina will be pleasantly surprised by the affordable dishes that are offered. While the fajitas are $16, making them the most expensive thing on the menu, all of the other dishes are priced between $9 and $12, and there’s no scrimping on the amount of food you’ll get.

Top Starters

One of the best things about Mexican food is that the appetizers are almost always as good, and nearly as filling, as the entrée itself. This holds true for Soto’s Cantina, where you may be tempted to order an appetizer—or two—for your main dish. Definitely place an order of the nachos compuestos, which come with beans, taco meat, guacamole, sour cream and cheddar cheese, and are only $8 for a small order or $11 for a large order. The Portobello and spinach quesadilla appetizer is also amazing, and is $10.

Why settle?

With so many great menu options, why settle for just the enchiladas, just the tacos, just the tamales… you get the drift. Instead, choose one of the combo plates, and get you favorites all on one heaping plate. The combo 2, which has a cheese enchilada, taco, and tamale is great and priced at $10, and combo 7, which includes a fajita burrito, cheese enchilada, and tamale for $13 is for someone with a hearty appetite.

Order from the Menu

There are a lot of restaurants that will happily make any substitutions to your meal without question. Rice instead of beans? You got it. Chicken instead of beef? No problem. While you’ll get the same smile and ability to compromise here, it will cost you, as they charge for any and all substitutions made. As such, either plan on ordering strictly from the menu and being happy with what you get, or plan on spending a little extra to change it up.

Two Must Try Items

If there are two things on this menu that you absolutely should try, they are the jalapeno margarita and the camarones a la plancha. Everyone who has either of these two things absolutely raves about them, and while other things on the menu are really great, these two items will become instant favorites.

Great for lunch or dinner, head to Soto’s Cantina on any day of the week other than Sunday, when they’re closed. If it’s nice weather, ask to be seated on the patio, which is dog friendly, and feel free to ask for you meal to be extra spicy if you like it that way.
