If you’re looking for a way to make date night this week a little more exciting, why not switch it up by going to dinner and a show all in one? The Dinner Detective, the largest Murder Mystery Comedy Dinner Show in the United States, is a fabulous way to enjoy food while also watching and participating in an entertaining performance.

What to Expect

The Dinner Detective provides diners with the opportunity to solve a crime at each of their interactive shows. Essentially, a “murder” will occur at the beginning of the show, and then the crime will be solved throughout the course of your meal, using the help of the audience. These shows are not only incredibly fun to participate in, but usually quite entertaining as well!

The Show’s Menu

Because it is a theatre rather than a restaurant alone, there’s a fixed menu where diners can choose between one of the three entrees. The choices are beef bourgulgnon, chicken marsala, and eggplant napoleon. The meal also includes a dessert of white chocolate bread pudding, and a starter of a chef’s choice of hors d’oeuvres and a salad. The meal also includes iced tea and coffee. While the food isn’t too shabby, the real joy of this place is in the theatre.

Prices and Show Times

General admission starts at $69.95 per person. If you have a large party of 10 or more, you can get a $3 off discount per person for booking as a group. There’s also a number of packages that you can purchase in addition to the regular ticket price, including the Romance Package—which includes a bottle of champagne, the Celebration Package—which has a bottle of wine and a t-shirt, and the Gift Package—in which you’ll get a coffee mug, t-shirt, and the opportunity to get a member of your party involved in the show as the prime suspect.

The theatre only puts on shows once a week, so hopefully Saturdays are good for you. If you’d like to request a private show, those can be organized for nearly any sized group and can be done on a day other than Saturday.

Not for Children

While it may seem fun to bring your children to this theatre, it’s really more of a grown-up event that’s not appropriate for the little ones. Additionally, make sure you dress up a bit, as anyone not wearing business attire or dressy casual will not be admitted. The theatre has a very strict no t-shirts, shorts, baseball caps, or torn-clothing policy.

No Refunds

The final thing you should know about this dinner theatre is that no refunds will be issued. Once you make your purchase, all sales are final, even something in your schedule changes and you can’t make sure the show. They’re pretty firm about this policy, and it’s unlikely they’ll budge on it even if you really need the refund.

Overall, despite a couple of the strict rules regarding dress and refunds, the theatre is a pretty awesome way to spend a weekend night.
