The Climbing Wall is an indoor rock gym for bouldering and top-roping in Pittsburgh. Anyone, regardless of skill status or certification, can use the bouldering area anytime. You cannot climb in the top-roping area without being certified to belay though, but it’s easy to do so by taking a quick test (if you know what you are doing) or taking the Safety & Belay Certification class, which is offered four days a week. In addition to this intro class, a Lead Climbing Certification class or private lesson, for some one-on-one strategic coaching, can be scheduled at any time. Kids that are 6 years or older can climb at the Climbing Wall, under the same rules as for the grown-ups, and there are regular weekly Kids Climb sessions that don’t require any previous knowledge and include a skilled staff belayer as well.

Day passes are only $12, which is really affordable compared to many other indoor gyms!  Gear rental prices are nominal, or you can bring your own. The Climbing Wall has hours every day of the week, but they do vary by day so check the calendar for specifics. Those with military ID and students get a discount every day, and Wednesday is “Ladies’ Night.”
