Ocho is a restaurant that’s located within Hotel Havana, and based on the location, you should have probably already guessed by now that’s it’s a Cuban restaurant. A very elegant space that’s offers indoor seating out out, the birdcage-style architecture of this restaurant will possibly wow you as much as the food itself.

Best Breakfast in San Antonio

The breakfast at Ocho was voted the Best in Texas by Texas Monthly Magazine in 2011, and it’s definitely worth sampling. Try the toasted Jo’s Banana Bread with peanut butter and honey, the Havana breakfast torta with everything from eggs to refried black beans, the huevos and chorizo, or the sweet plantain griddle cakes. If you’re feeling adventurous, order the fried plantains with queso fresco a la carte–you’ll be surprised by how amazing they are!

Traditional Cuban Food All Day

After breakfast, Ocho serves some amazing Cuban cuisine from 11:30 AM until they close at 10 PM (12 AM on weekends). Favorites are the Havana Hippie torta with black bean hummus, avocado, tomato, swiss cheese, and sprouts; the Havana Cubano with roasted pork shoulder, grilled ham, swiss cheese, pickles, and dijon mustard; the salmon with saffron infused risotto, spanish chorizo, and sweet peas; the achiote marinated chicken wrapped in bacon and served with sweet potato puree, pan-seared caramel soy green beans; and the shrimp and crab campachena to start, which is a spicy cocktail of seafood that’s served with sardines. Also, the coffee and cafe lattes are supposedly one of the biggest highlights of the meal. Portion sizes are great, and you definitely won’t leave hungry!

Great Cocktails

You should definitely order a cocktail when dining here, preferably the mojito, which is raved about as one of the most amazing mojitos in town. They also have a superb margarita, and a Hemingway daiquiri that features a touch of grapefruit and is hands-down delicious. There are also plenty of beer and wine options to choose from, and champagne if you’re dining for a special occasion.

Most Romantic Restaurant

The architecture makes this restaurant one of the most romantic restaurants in all of San Antonio, and if you’ve been looking for the perfect place to take your loved one for a special night out, this is it. With antique style and plenty of mood lighting, it doesn’t get more amorous than this when it comes to dining locations. To make your sweetheart swoon even more, order something sugary to split at the end of the evening, because the desserts are too good to pass up. The Banana Bread French Toast is recommended, and some have even called it “life changing.”

Pretty Patio, Great Views

The patio here is just as gorgeous as the indoor seating, and offers a very romantic and attractive view of the river. This is definitely one of the best places in the city for a great outdoor dining experience. In addition to the great patio, the staff is very friendly, and will go out of their way to make sure you’re comfortable.
