Located in the outskirts of San Antonio in Hollywood Park, TX, Tang Street Chinese is worth the drive. This delicious Chinese restaurant offers fresh food made from great ingredients at an affordable price, and it’s all located  in a restaurant with a great atmosphere.

The Menu May Overwhelm

The menu here is huge, and there are options for just about everyone on it. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the selection of soups, beef and lamb dishes, chicken options, rice, and noodles, play it safe by ordering one of the Tang Street specials. These dishes are crowd favorites, and include things like jalapeño chicken and shrimp, sauerkraut braised pork intestines with pickled cabbage, and a spicy hot pot.

Go for the Lunch Specials

If you’re person who loves a great lunch special, you’re going to be wowed by the lunch specials at Tang Street. From 11 AM to 3 PM daily, you can order your choice of entrees on the specials list, and everything comes served with steamed or fried rice, a spring roll or crab rangoon, and a egg drop soup, hot and sour soup, or wonton soup. Some entree options for lunch specials include Lo Mein, cashew nut chicken, the favorite Kung Pao Triple, General Tso’s Chicken, and Mongolian beef. Some of the dishes are spicy, so make sure you ask if you’re sensitive! Lunch specials are all priced just under $7, which is a fantastic deal!

Family Friendly Dining and Prices

The prices at Tang Street Chinese Restaurant are spot on, and most entrees range between $9 and $12 depending upon the ingredients. There’s a kids’ menu with some great menu items for the little ones–like kids’ lo mein and kids’ chicken–and all kids’ menu items are priced under $5. As such, this is a great place to go if you have a family you need to feed, and don’t want to spend a fortune.

Hot Pot Heaven

The hot pots here are amazing, and refer to sizzlingly pots of ingredients ranging from pork intestines with chili to spicy eggplants. Hot pots are a very traditional type of Chinese food, and are similar to a fajita, but Asian style. This restaurant also has hot plates, and the favorite hot plates are seafood (squid, shrimp, and scallops) simmering plate, the Happy Family sizzling plate (vegetables, beef, chicken, and shrimp), and the tofu with scallions hot plate, which is the perfect choice for vegetarians.

Clean, Comfortable, and Scrumptious

Not only is the food here super good, but the atmosphere is clean, comfortable, and there’s plenty of room for a big group. Be warned though, this place is pretty popular, and fills up quickly. They don’t take reservations, so if you’re dying to go here, just show up early or be prepared to wait for a table. Another thing to note is that no alcohol is served, but you’re welcome to bring your own beverage if you want to a drink with dinner!
