Brian, the owner, says “The ingredients are made fresh every day. We make fresh sauce every day. We buy the cheese in blocks and grate it fresh everyday. And the dough is made from scratch everyday.”

The 42″ pizza has almost 10 square feet of ingredients and it weighs……27 lbs! The 42″ pizza is dine-in only. The largest pizza they deliver is 37″ because the 42″ one WON’T FIT THROUGH THE DOOR! Even the 37″ they have to turn sideways to get it through the door as you can see in the first video below.

Brian says “The 42″ pizza started as a marketing gimmick. We thought we would sell three to four per week, but now we sell 30 every Friday night. It’s kind of a marketing gimmick gone wrong….in a good way.”

So if you’re in town & you want a story to bring home with you, then Big Lou’s is some of the best & biggest pizza in San Antonio. It’s a must see, kind of like seeing the beer can house in Houston

Big Lou’s has lots of restaurant style seating, large tables made to hold their large pizzas. The wait staff and kitchen staff are always so friendly. Everyone is always laughing it up or having fun. You can really tell that they enjoy their job!
