Taproom: Not available at the moment

Opened in 2008, (512) Brewing Company still holds strong to its roots as a craft beer production facility, refusing to join the bandwagon of microbreweries opening their barn doors, warehouse doors for patrons to take a swig at their taprooms.

(512) Brewing believes in holding on to the age-old practice of consuming fresh draft brews at pubs, restaurants and local bars just like how they did it in Westeros, or Middle-earth maybe. The (512) folks are concerned that enjoying the feel of the glass and the sensation of the pour, the interaction with other people and the surroundings, are nearly lost.

512 Brewing Company

For them, nothing compares to making handcrafted beers in small batches and the camaraderie of people sharing fresh beer. Inspired by old world Belgian and English styles, the craft beers of (512) Brewing are enhanced to celebrate homegrown ingredients. Case in point, (512) Brewing makes use of Austin’s mineral-laden water, creating beers that sports a taste of its own.

Insider Tip

When there, try (512)’s Pecan Porter or their IPA if you have the chance. Also, get there 10 minutes earlier, and have your driver’s license ready. As you may already know, (512) does not have a taproom, so there’s not going to be food trucks (or food) and live bands.
