II Sogno Osteria is an Italian restaurant located in the Tobin Hill area of San Antonio that offers traditional Italian cuisine in a fine dining setting. If you’re looking for a restaurant that will impress your date, serve as the perfect location for an anniversary dinner, or where you can host an upscale business lunch, II Sogno Osteria is your restaurant.

The Experience

The restaurant is quaint, cozy, and romantic, while also being upscale and fancy as well. While the restaurant is well-lit–maybe not the mood lighting you were hoping for–the space is elegant in its design and very modern looking. The outside seating area may be preferable to the indoor one if you enjoy fresh air, as the patio is quite picturesque in its set up, complete with mini bulb lights. In addition to the great space, the waitstaff is very friendly and kind, and will certainly improve the quality of your evening by how helpful–but not overbearing or annoying!–they are.

Authentic Italian Options

The food is very authentic here, and if you want to taste something similar to what you’d find on a vacation to Italy, this is it. Try the octopus and potato salad to start, the goat cheese with olive oil, or the eggplant and lemon caviar. The plate of cured meats is also highly recommended.

Great for Pizzas

Despite its upscale atmosphere, II Sogno Osteria is actually one of the best places in San Antonio to go for a pizza. Try the tomato and arugula pizza if you like something simple, or go for the Atomica pizza–with roasted bell peppers, capers, mozzarella, and more if you prefer something a little more flavorful.

Favorite Pasta Choices

Italy is often associated with pasta, and rightfully so–the pasta here are amazing. Favorites that you should definitely try are the spaghetti with bacon, smoked cheese, and sweet peas; linguini with clams, olive oil, garlic, and prawns; the butternut squash ravioli with sage butter sauce and amaretti cookie crumbles; the gnocchi with cheese sauce and black truffle shavings; and the risotto with black squid ink, squid tentacles, and sweet peas. Trust us, it’ll definitely satisfy your sweet craving!

Fill Up On Protein

There are also some great fish and meat options here that are amazing, and are recommended alongside or in substitution of a pasta dish. The free-range oven roasted chicken with truffle sauce is cooked perfectly, the wild hog spezzatino with polenta and cheese is interesting and delicious, and cod with saffron broth and leeks and prawns is amazing!

Some Good to Know Information

You should absolutely make a reservation. If you don’t make a reservation, they will struggle seating you, and you probably won’t get the table or area of the restaurant you were planning on. That being said, if you have a large party, and you do make a reservation, make sure everyone arrives on time, as they won’t seat you until your entire party is there. Other than that, attire is dressy, there’s a private lot for parking (no valet), and they serve beer and wine (but no liquor). Also, the prices are expensive–around $23 for a pasta dish, and $33 for a meat one. Also, they serve breakfast! Try the goat cheese omelette!
