Chinese Food in Houston

For lunch, dinner, or sushi in a clean and beautiful atmosphere, try Café Ginger. Offering amazing Chinese cuisine that’s authentic and delicious, Café Ginger is home to some of the best Chinese food in Houston, complete with lo mien and fortune cookies alike.

Unique Dishes

This is an upscale Chinese restaurant that offers some unique dishes that you won’t find at other restaurants. With specials that range from duck to seafood, pork to rice and noodles, there’s something for everyone at Café Ginger. Try the grilled scallops with caviar sake sauce ($30 on the dinner menu), or the beef short ribs served with veggies and potatoes ($36).

There’s Sushi, Too

In addition to all the traditional Chinese flavors and unique Chinese dishes, those who love sushi are also welcome at Café Ginger. The restaurant offers sashimi, nigiri sushi, and special sushi rolls like the Cajun roll, Alaska roll, or red dragon roll.

You Need a Reservation

If you want to dine at Café Ginger, especially for dinner or for a party of five or more, a reservation may be necessary. The restaurant recommends making the reservation at least a week in advance, and failing to do so and just chancing it may result in a long wait or a missed meal. And make sure you have a credit card on hand, as it’s necessary to make the reservation over the phone.

Open for Lunch

If you’re on a budget and don’t want to pay dinner prices, head to Café Ginger for lunch for an equally delicious meal at a more budget-friendly cost. Sushi is still offered during the lunch hours, as are the daily specials.

Have a Glass of Wine

This restaurant has an extensive wine list (way more than fifty options, although I gave up on counting them all), and should definitely be paired with your meal. Ask the staff for paring recommendations, or choose a glass of a well-known favorite.

Kid Friendly

While this restaurant is pretty classy, they still have made an effort to be kid-friendly, and your little ones are welcome to accompany you as long as they’re attended to. Café Ginger even has a kids’ menu that offers some child-approved dishes, including sweet potato tempura, crispy shrimp with French fries, chicken strips, and crispy fish fillets. The menu is so good that even the pickiest of eaters will gobble up these yummy dishes.

Family Style Options

This is a great restaurant for groups of friends or families, and sharing the dishes family style is an awesome way to enjoy the food and connect with your loved ones. The more you order, the more you’ll get to try, but keep in mind that these portions are large, so you may be asking for to-go boxes.

The only con to report about the restaurant is that a few dishes may be served with a little more salt that preferred, but asking for no salt is an easy remedy. Otherwise, the décor is beautiful and the food is delicious!
