For a fun and romantic evening that offers food that’s unconventional and served with unique style, the Melting Pot restaurant in Houston is one of the best fondue restaurants in the city.

Do You Fondue?

If you’re unfamiliar with the practice of fondue, fondue refers to a type of dish that incorporates dipping pieces of food, be it bread, meat, fruit, or another item, into a dip of some sort, usually cheese or chocoate. Usually, a fondue pot is shared by a group, and can be used to serve anything from appetizers to desserts. Fondue is a great way to try a variety of food, connect with your dinner guests, and have fun.

Cheese Fondue

At The Melting Pot, each table can choose from one of the five cheese fondue options available for a cost of $8.50 to $8.95 per person. The cheddar is perhaps the most popular, and combines a medium-sharp aged cheddar with Swiss, lager beer, and garlic. The Classic Alpine is a new cheese fondue option at the restaurant, and consists of aged Gruyere, Raclette, and fontina cheeses with lemon juice and nutmeg. If this sounds too fancy for you, try the loaded baked potato cheddar fondue, the four cheese fondue, or the spinach and artichoke fondue. Each fondue is served with assorted vegetables, breads, and fruits when in season.

No Fondue for You

If you are headed to The Melting Pot but aren’t a fan of fondue or don’t think that it will be enough to fill you up, there are a number of salads and entrees you can also choose from. The Melting Pot house salad with the House dressing is great, and the Memphis-style BBQ pork medallions are killer. For $22.95, you can also create your own meal by choosing three entrée selections.

Seafood and Steak

In addition the fondue and entrée, The Melting Pot also offers a four-course experience with ten different options to choose from. The Land and Sea choice includes filet mignon, herb-crusted chicken, and Pacific white shrimp; whereas the surf and turf offers the traditional cold-water lobster tail paired with filet mignon and wild mushroom sacchetti.

Date Night Out

If you want a great place to go on a date, be it a first date or the hundredth together, The Melting Pot offers a romantic ambiance and classy setting. Fondue is fun to share, and the chocolate fondue and complete dessert menu is perfect for an evening full of love. Try the chocolate s’mores dessert, $7.95 per person, and order the Love Martini to drink if you’re feeling particularly amorous.

The only bad thing about this is that’s it’s a pretty large chain. But hey, that just mean’s they’ve had a lot of practice to get things right, right?
