A Delightful Galleria Area Greek Restaurant by the Pappas Family

Owned by the Pappas family and a favorite Greek restaurant in Houston, Yia Yia Mary’s is perfect for just about anything from a date with a bottle of wine to watching the game while having a beer. With yummy dishes that are both American and Greek, this is a great place to go with friends, family, or a date.

Happy Hour

A great thing about this Greek restaurant is that they offer a happy hour Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. While the happy hour is only in the bar section of the restaurant, you can find frozen margaritas, a Santorini (frozen margarita with Yia Yia punch and Greek brandy), a grey goose martini, a carafe of wine, beer, and a grey goose cocktail on this happy hour menu for a discounted price. The menu also offers some discounted appetizers, including $1.45 spanakopita, baked feta, fried calamari, bread and olive oil, and more.

Great Bar Menu

If you’re not able to make it for Happy Hour, don’t feel like you’ve missed out; the bar menu here is pretty great, and is available at all hours of operation. Some favorites here are the Sunset Bellini made with rum, tequila, peach, lemon, and lime; Metaxa Old Fashion, which consists of Greek brandy bitters, and orange; and the Thebe’s Spritz, where you’ll find a refreshing and delicious combination of Greek white wine, sparkling wine, bitters, and mixed fruit. If you’re refraining from alcohol or are the driver for the evening, try one of the alcohol free beverages, such as the strawberry lime sparkler, the peachy cream soda, or the handcrafted lemonade.

Flavorful Seafood

You’ll find a plethora of seafood options here, so don’t feel like you should limit yourself to the salmon, although it is delicious. The swordfish and giant prawns are incredible, and the Chilean sea bass is a favorite dish. All of the seafood at Yia Yia Mary’s is prepared over a wood-burning oak grill.

If you don’t like seafood, you’ll find all of your traditional Greek dishes, too, including a Spartan mixed grill that’s served with lamb chops, beef, chicken, or shrimp souvlaki, and sausage.

Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth

Make sure you save some room for dessert at Yia YIa Mary’s, because the baklava cheesecake, pistachio ice cream, homemade walnut cake, almond cookies, and gelato are all worth savoring. If you’re too full for a full dessert, maybe try one of their coffee creations instead, like a caramel macchiato or satisfying iced latte.

At Yia Yia Mary’s you’ll find a fun and casual atmosphere, warm service, and great Greek food.
