Bohanan’s has been named as a Top 10 Steakhouse in the United States by Yahoo Travel, and their sommelier has received prestigious recognitions as well. Therefore, it almost goes without saying that for an amazing–and upscale–dinner in San Antonio, Bohanan’s Prime Steaks & Seafood is the restaurant of choice.

The Best Starters

The meal at Bohanan’s shouldn’t be rushed, and selecting an appetizer per person, or a couple for the table, is highly recommended. Luckily, all the appetizers are so delicious, that you’ll be more than happy to indulge in at least one. Favorites include the colossal lump crabmeat cocktail, the crab tots with a spicy cocktail sauce, the seared sashimi grade tuna, the seared Hudson Valley foie gras, and the duck confit egg rolls.

Eating Green

Again, the meal here is meant to be served in courses, so you should absolutely order a salad. The spinach salad featuring baby spinach, toasted almonds, warmed goat cheese, sliced onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, and hickory-smoked bacon with vinaigrette is a house favorite. The other most popular salad here is probably the Bohanan’s House Salad, which has bibb lettuce, spinach, romaine, artichoke hearts, black olives, bacon, onions, caramelized walnuts, french dressing, and hearts of palm. If you’re not a greens person, try the famous tortilla soup instead, which is warm, savory, and loaded with tortilla strips, chicken, cheese, avocado, and cilantro.

The Main Fare

After you’ve made your way through appetizers and salads, it’s time to indulge in the amazing steak, meat, and seafood selections here. Try the rib eye in 16 oz. or 12 oz. size options, the semi-boneless European quail,  the rack of Colorado lamb, the wild Alaskan salmon, the fresh snapper filet, or the grilled crab cakes with remoulade sauce. Truly, every meat option here is incredibly succulent and fresh, and if you love a meal where you get plenty of protein, you’ll be delighted by the selection here. If you’re a vegetarian, there is a vegetarian platter you can select. The veggie platter comes with a variety of fresh vegetables, as well as rice patties.

Costly Cuisine

This is an expensive steakhouse–like $100 a plate expensive. As such, you will absolutely need a reservation, you much be dressed nicely, kids are a definite no-no, and you should expect on having to pay big bucks on the evening that you dine here. For two people, with wine or drinks, you can expect to pay around $300 depending on what you order. Additionally, parking is valet, and you should expect to pay around $10 plus tip for that. This is the perfect place to celebrate a very special event, host a classy business dinner, or spend a lot of money just because you can.

Don’t Forget Dessert

Just as good as the food here is the dessert, so make sure you place an order of one of the decadent sweet options before leaving. The pastry chef always features an evening special, which you may want to try. In addition that though, the best dessert options here are the deep dish pecan pie, the double chocolate brownie, and the New York style amaretto cheese cake. Enjoy!
